What Exactly is Kinesiology?

The word Kinesiology (kin-easy-ology) means the study of motion. In particular, the study of how muscles act and coordinate to move the body. In the natural health field, Kinesiology uses muscles to monitor stress and imbalance within the body where 'Muscle Testing' is used for detecting and re-balancing. These imbalances may relate to emotional stress, Muscle testingnutrition or allergies, learning problems, injuries or pain.

The muscle test is actually monitoring the integrity of the electrical pathway from the brain to the muscle fibres. Our bodies are so finely tuned to respond to stimuli, that any stress on the body can be observed through the muscle test. Stressful thoughts, feelings, movements and substances (such as food or chemicals) result in the muscle failing to respond efficiently. In the same way the muscle test can demonstrate the appropriate healing technique by correcting this muscle failure.

How did Kinesiology begin?

In the early 60’s an American Chiropractor, George Goodheart began to use muscle testing to evaluate muscle function, posture and general body imbalances. He also researched corrective measures for these imbalances using the ancient wisdom of Chinese Philosophies, lymphatic points and blood flow through the brain. Picture of Bruce Dewe

Kinesiology has since developed further with the addition of other ancient wisdoms and vibrational energy healing techniques.

Dr. Bruce Dewe (Pictured) has developed a professional protocol into a wholistic healing modality called Professional Kinesiology Practice. He runs the International College (ICPKP) from his base in Auckland, New Zealand. There are several colleges throughout Australia. Susan studied (and subsequently taught classes) at Kinesiology Centre S E Melbourne.

There have been many pioneers in the Kinesiology modality. As more and more research occurs this field will continue to develop.

One of the greatest virtues of Kinesiology is its versatility. Every treatment is a unique assessment of your individual needs. Using muscle testing you are provided with the exact healing that your person requires; be it of a spiritual, emotional nature, a structural or physical nature, or of a nutritional or chemical nature. The healing provided is tailored specifically for you.
